Service Description

Beginners: In this lesson, you will be guided step by step while sitting at your own wheel and following my instruction. You will learn basic clay preparation, wedging, centering, and pulling simple cup and bowl forms on the wheel. You will also learn to trim your pottery once the clay is in the appropriate stage of drying and glaze your work once it has been bisque fired. Intermediate: These lessons are for students with prior experience who wish to challenge themselves with larger amounts of clay for pulling taller forms, vases, planter pots and larger bowls. Advanced: These lessons are aimed at students who have basic and intermediate experience and who wish to develop a series or sets of pottery, while refining personal aesthetic and potentially selling their own work. Plaster mold-making and casting skills are also available to explore as you create pieces you might intend to replicate. Hand-Building Lessons: To create functional pottery or sculptural forms without using a wheel. Age 6 - Adult, and all ability levels, these sessions are for you to develop skills making pinch pots, coil techniques, slab making, and free forms of your choice. You may need several sessions to complete more complex forms such as vessels with handles, teapots or lidded jars, as the clay must be joined while “leather-hard.” You will also decorate and glaze your work once it has been bisque-fired. Price $150 per person for 2 hours All materials, tools and glazes included!
