Raku Fire Workshop take place on 2 consecutive Saturday.
Day 1: From 8:30 to 3:30pm
Day 2: From 8:30 to 4pm
All skill levels welcome!
During the first Saturday, you will learn how to handbuild a given vessel. Then, after I fire your work to bisque temperatures, you will return the following Saturday and learn various ways to glaze your work with decorative Raku glazes.
We will all participate in the firing process that follows.
Fired in a Raku kiln to 1050 degrees, the pots will be pulled out while glowing red hot (using metal tongs and safety gloves), placed in a reduction chamber where the oxides in the glaze “paint” themselves according to the kiln God’s wishes. The results are vast and unpredictable as many variables are at play, and you can expect bright flashes of copper reds, blues, yellows, and oranges both shiny and matte in texture.
Come explore clay and fire in this exciting workshop and take home your finished piece after the firing is complete.
Price $250 per person.
All materials, tools and glazes included!
